Last night we met my parents in Winchester (our half-way point for meeting up with my family. It's so nice to be able to take such a short drive to meet up for lunch or dinner like this.) to celebrate my mom's (aka, "Nana") birthday. We've been brave enough to take the boys out to dinner at a nicer (not Chick-fil-a or pizza) restaurant a few times this summer, and they have surprised us. When Tyler was Lucas' age, we got to the point where it was a little hard to eat at a sit-down restaurant. There just wasn't a lot to entertain him, so once he was done eating, he would want to be up and running around. Lucas LOVES to eat so much that we don't have that problem with him as much. He is normally still eating as the rest of us are finishing up. We did have one small catastrophe this time, when Luke smashed a plate on the floor. Our fault though, as it was holding the food he very much wanted, and we left it within his arm's reach. Oops.
The boys were even nice enough to take some pictures with Nana for her birthday. I can't believe Tyler looked at the camera and smiled like this...I guess it helps when Mommy's standing beside the camera making funny faces, though.
And look at Lucas just posing like a little angel. I'm telling you...this picture made her day!
So anyway, we enjoyed a nice meal with Nana, Papa and Aunt Jenn, and then stopped to have an ice cream treat before heading home. A bowl full of sugar (cotton candy ice cream with M&M's...his choice) is probably
not the best idea for a 3-year old about to be cooped up in a car for an hour, though!
Happy Birthday Mom (Nana), we love you!
