Tyler's 2 Months

So, Tyler is 2 months old. This was another busy month. When Tyler was 6 weeks old, we took our first trip with him on an airplane. Les was going to be in the DC area for work, so we decided it would be a good opportunity for Tyler and I to tag along, and for Tyler to meet all those he had yet to meet on the east coast...especially Grandaddy Liston and Aunt Jenn. We also were able to meet up with most of our good friends.

At his two month check, he weighed in at just shy of 13 lbs and was 22 inches long. Tyler got his first shots and was a champ. I think it startled him a little, but there were only 3 sticks
and he was okay after a few minutes. The biggest surprise has been that at 2 months, our little man is already beginning to teethe. That's right!! I mentioned the fact that he was blowing lots of bubbles, drooling alot and chewing on his hands. She looked inside and said she could see where the first two were going to come in, and that he was already swollen. So, we shall see how long it actually takes for them to break through.

He's doing great at sleeping too. While in DC he started sleeping 7 hours minimum through the night and has progressed up to about 8-8 1/2. And, he still takes several naps a day. He is a sleeping machine. Grandad Liston likes to say he gets that quality from him.

One Month Old!!

Wow...what a month it has been. We can't believe that our little angel has been here for 5 weeks already. He and Mommy went in for his one month check up today and he is growing perfectly. He remains in the 50th percentile for his weight at 10 lbs, 4 ounces and the 75th for height at 22.5 inches.

We had some family photos taken for his one month birthday. If you are interested in seeing them, you can go to www.weefolksphotography.com, click on "sessions" and enter "Gibbs". Once I am able, I'll try and post some of them on here.

We had our first outing over the July 4th holiday, as we travelled to Fayetteville, AK to be with the Ivey family (Les' Grandad). Tyler met his Great-Grandfather for the first time.

Here are some of our favorite pictures from Tyler's first month.

Tyler's Home

We brought Tyler home from the hospital Wednesday morning. The thought of leaving the hospital, and the help of all the wonderful nurses we had was a little overwhelming and frightening, but we were very excited to begin this new chapter of our life. tyler's been a wonderful baby. He sleeps and eats alot, but he is such a happy baby. He is such a joy to have around. Here are a few pictures from our first few days home.

Tyler's Arrival

Tyler Allen Gibbs
June 5, 2006

7 lbs 10.6 oz, 19.75 in

Hello Everyone. So, here is the story of our little Tyler's arrival. I'll try to keep it brief, since I know the pictures are the best part anyway.

We arrived at the hospital at 6 am, to begin the induction. Kerri was given her pitocin around 6:30 and Dr. Halderman arrived around 8:30 to break her water. After that, the contractions started to come on about every 5 minutes. At 9:45, it was time to for the epidural, as the contractions were coming much quicker and much stronger. Unfortunately for Kerri, the woman next door also requested hers at this time, and because she was very near her pushing stage, they started hers first. So, Kerri was given some nubain to help with the pain until they could get her epidural started. This took effect almost immediately and she was feeling much better. Around 10:30 the Dr. arrived and started her epidural. The Dr. was wonderful and did a fantastic job with the epidural. Kerri felt nothing until the very, very end, as she was given Tyler his final pushes out.

The contractions continued for the next 5 hours and at 3:30 she was ready to push. But, since her Dr. was still at the office with patients, they decided to let her "labor down" and see if Tyler would make his way down some on his own, so Kerri wouldn't have to push as hard or as long. At 5:10 Dr. Halderman arrived and the pushing began. Kerri's wonderful nurse, Laura, was a great cheerleader and promised she would have the baby by 7, before her shift ended. Dr. Halderman piped in that he would be out by 6:00. She was pretty accurate, as the last push ended with little Tyler arriving at 6:10 pm, weighing 7 lbs 10.6 ounces and measuring 19 3/4 inches long. Kerri only had to push for 1 hour and didn't complain of any pain during that time. She was more concerned that she wasn't doing a good job pushing, since she couldn't really feel if she was pushing. But, the epidural started to wear off at the very end, just in time for her to feel him actually come out.

Here are some pictures of Tyler in his first couple of days, while we were in the hospital. Thanks to Rachael for the great pictures we have of this wonderful occasion.

Kerri's Baby Shower

Sharon and Rachael had a really nice baby shower for Kerri on April 29. They played some fun games and had really yummy food that Sharon and Rachael made. Kerri got lots and lots of baby bath stuff, so she should be well stocked for that first bath, and many baths to come. Here are some photos from the shower.
